Samburu Spear - Cold Steel, Multipurpose, One Size
The Samburu, a tall and lean tribe, inhabit the rugged northern frontier of Kenya, where they eke out a living as semi-nomadic herders of sheep, goats, donkeys, camels, and cattle. The warriors of this tribe, known as "Lmurran," are particularly impressive; they never cut their long, braided hair and adorn their faces and torsos with beautifully intricate patterns using a cosmetic mixture made from animal fat and red ochre.
Given the constant threat of predators and raids by lawless "Shiftas" (bandits) from Somalia, the Samburu rarely venture outside their "Kraals" (a type of makeshift hut) without being thoroughly armed. In fact, no warrior worthy of the name would be caught without his spears, which are the most advanced and state-of-the-art of their kind on the planet.
The Samburu's seven-foot-long throwing spears are remarkable. These spears are capable of dispatching marauding leopards, lions, and even firearm-toting bandits at incredible distances. The spear is composed of three components: the spear head permanently welded to a thick steel shaft, the counter-balancing butt spike (also known as the "shoe") used for practice throwing, and the black, U.S.-made hickory handle with a double taper connecting the head and shoe.
These spears, which come unassembled for ease of transportation, can be easily assembled by fitting the blade and butt spike tightly to the handle and securing them with the provided retaining screws. They are complete with a Secure-Ex sheath, and their performance can be likened to the 300 Winchester Magnum of the spear world – they can be used at long range, fly straight, have a flat trajectory, hit hard, and penetrate deeply, making them capable of taking any animal in North America.
While the Samburu spears are built to be as tough as possible, it is important to note that the spear shaft or "shoe" (butt spike) can be easily straightened in a vise or with a hammer if bent, and the tough hickory handle may eventually break, requiring replacement.
